The impact of activism on us

Activism can impact massively on our life, but it has the potential to go in two directions. Some forms of activism can make you feel low and can make you struggle to see change; the guilt of watching without the ability to rescue all creatures. But some forms can lift you and bring hope for change, more optimism, and more energy. Activism can be a way to feel united and less alone.

There needs to be a balance in your input if you want to avoid burnout. All forms of activism have a significant impact. However, it is important to gain some sense of optimism, unity and belonging through positive activism and personal escape time.

“I would say I had fears beforehand that maybe someone I knew would see me and judge me or treat me differently as a result. When actually doing activism I feel like I owe it to the animals you know? During and also after activism I feel proud and very glad that I put the animals before my fears and I think that meeting like-minded people is one of the best gifts from doing activism.”

Vegan activist

“Before I ever started I felt hopeless. Some methods like talking to strangers I find really hard because of anxiety and feeling really upset with people. When I do activism, it does make me feel more positive, like I’m actually making a difference for the animals in some way and helping the whole movement grow.”

Vegan activist

“It is always good to spend time with other activists, like-minded compassionate people. When we march as one I know we have the power to make a difference.”
